The Society advances the profession through peer-reviewed publication, an open-access journal partnership, and awards that recognise the next generation of sport scientists and coaches.

Annual Congress Awards

Recognising the
best work.

Each year the Society presents awards at its annual congress, evaluated by the SCS Awards Committee. Winners receive an award certificate, free registration to the next SCS Meeting and a free one-year SCS membership.

Young Investigator Award

SCS Young Investigator Award

First author ≤ 30 yrsEnglish mandatory
  • Judged on creativity, effort, attention to scientific detail and presentation skills during the poster sessions.
  • Eighteen semi-finalists present an 8-minute oral communication; others present as posters.
  • Three finalists are selected by the Awards Committee on the quality of the oral communications.

Applied Science Award

SCS Applied Science Award

Applicability to sportEnglish mandatory
  • Judged on creativity, effort and applicability to sport, coaches or athletes.
  • Eighteen semi-finalists present an 8-minute oral communication; others present as posters.
  • Three finalists are selected by the Awards Committee on the quality of the poster presentations.

Coach of the Year

Emerging Strength & Conditioning Coach

Coaches ≤ 30 yrsDeadline · Aug 31
  • Justifying report (1–50 pts): position held, sport rationale, work methods and performance evaluation.
  • Achievements (10–30 pts): national, continental or world / Olympic-level results.
  • Relevance of the modality (1–20 pts): less-resourced or less-practised sports score higher.

Abstracts are submitted for the SCS annual congress.

Notification

Acceptance or non-acceptance is given before August 15.

Semi-finals

Semi-finalist classification is announced the first week of September.

Ceremony

Winners are presented during the congress Award Ceremony.

Sports and Nutrients are international, peer-reviewed open-access forums for studies in Human Nutrition and Sport Sciences, publishing reviews, regular research papers and short communications with no restriction on length.
